Basil and Cheese Pizza

Spinach and Pepperoni Pizza

Homemade Pizza with Rao’s Pizza Sauce & Sargento Mozzarella

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 12–15 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade), brought to room temperature
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup Rao’s Pizza Sauce
  • 2 cups Sargento Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Toppings of your choice:
    • Pepperoni
    • Italian sausage (cooked)
    • Mushrooms
    • Bell peppers
    • Onions
    • Black olives
    • Fresh basil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 475–500°F (245–260°C). If using a pizza stone or steel, place it in the oven while it preheats for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Lightly flour your work surface and stretch or roll the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle.
  3. Transfer the dough to a pizza peel dusted with cornmeal or parchment paper, or place it directly on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  4. Brush the outer edge of the crust with olive oil. Sprinkle the crust with garlic powder if desired.
  5. Spread 1/2 to 3/4 cup of Rao’s Pizza Sauce evenly over the dough, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edge.
  6. Sprinkle 2 cups of Sargento Shredded Mozzarella Cheese evenly over the sauce.
  7. Add your favorite toppings, being careful not to overload the pizza.
  8. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and Parmesan cheese, if using.
  9. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly browned.
  10. Remove from the oven and let the pizza rest for 2–3 minutes before slicing.
  11. Garnish with fresh basil, crushed red pepper flakes, or a drizzle of olive oil if desired.

Tips

  • For an extra crispy crust, bake on a preheated pizza stone or steel.
  • Avoid using too much sauce or too many toppings, which can make the crust soggy.
  • Fresh basil is best added after baking to keep its bright flavor and color.
